At 96 proof, this small-batch wheated bourbon from Espy House hits the sweet spot between richness and drinkability. Named for the Espy House in Bedford, Pennsylvania—Washington’s Whiskey Rebellion headquarters in 1794—the bottle proudly carries “1771” in glass to honor the original inn. The wheated mashbill softens the edges, trading rye bite for round, honeyed grain while new charred American oak layers in caramel and spice. Bottled at 48% ABV, it delivers more intensity than standard 90‑proof pours without sacrificing balance. Expect vanilla custard, toffee, warm baking spices, and sweet oak aligned to that softer wheat profile. History in the glass and a share-worthy story on the shelf—grab this batch while it’s in circulation.
